Back to Gondor

Alas! Over a year has passed since I started working on some folks from Gondor for the first time. How comes that I found the motivation to get back on this project you might ask? Well I stumbled upon this neat idea from the Hobbit Tabletop Liga (the german answer to the Great British Hobbit League). It is basically about very small and very fast matches with only 150 points and on a 24″ x 24″ board. That’s the perfect answer regarding all my unfinished projects and of course for a lot of new ideas aswell, haha. This is the 150 points list I came up with: Captain of Minas Tirith – ...

Run Baby run!

The second Ogre for my Blood Bowl team is Gormash. In case Gormash gets the ball he is a relentless steamroller. Unfortunately the end zone is not always where he stops therefore the fans standing behind it have to watch out not getting stomped. I wanted to give this Ogre the forward pose of a runingback. Thus I had redo his legs and arms. He also got a ball and a helmet. ...

Bretonnian Wine

Just like my Khorne Skirmish Team the Bretonnians are still work in progress. Today I added a very special dog of war. It is Gui le Gros sculpted by legendary Michael Perry in 1996. This has to be one of the coolest miniatures of the whole Warhammer range ever, if you ask me of course. Luckily I am not alone here as he entered the White Dwarf hall of fame some time ago. Unfortunately there are no rules for him in the most recent armybook thus I have to field him as a regular Peasant Bowmen. In my skirmish team he became a dog of war though. Delivering fine bretonnian wine from Bordeleaux to the men, ...

Sound the Horn

During the last weeks I played some matches with my new Night Goblin skirmish team which was a hell lot of fun. Especially the Squig Hoppers were a blast to field. Of course this gave new motivation to work on my still WIP-teams such as the much more elite Warriors of Chaos / Khorne team. They are especially fragile against rout tests due to their low number. That’s why the new musician comes in quite handy. ...

Dragonback Titans

Now that the Barak Varr Bowlers are ready for kickoff I am (of course) already looking for a new Team to paint. I really like the sculpts of the new Orc team from the recently released Blood Bowl box. Yet I am not a huge fan of their facial design. But that’s not a problem at all, both the regular Warhammer range and the 40.000 range offer lots of great choices here. Picking a name wasn’t that hard aswell. I found this cool map of the Badlands and decided that my Orcs should hail from the Dragonback Mountains. Then again Orcs are probably not a wise choice as they tend to have pretty similar ...

Du Bekâr!

It’s that time of the year again! During the six years of the cinematic releases of both the Lord of the Rings and the Hobbit movies my brain learned that besides Christmas the month of December belongs to Tolkien! I am really looking forward to the recently released new Hobbit Book (which I hope to find under a certain tree in a couple of days). And of course I thought it’s about time for a new project or two as the new year will be upon us soon enough, hehe. Like a lot of other Hobbit-enthusiasts around the globe the new Dwarves hailing from the Iron Hills really got me. Therefore it’ll be Durin’s people dominating ...

House Makabius arise

Today I would like to introduce my first Imperial Knight hailing from House Makabius. A really neat kit which was a real pleasure to assemble. With the help of several neodym magnets one is able to field various different patterns. I can’t remember how long this Knight took me to finish. I bought it the day it was released but since then it always was work in progress as I was not sure which House / colour scheme I should go for. When I first saw the heraldry of House Makabius I was instantly sold. Now after several other projects the Knight is finally ready for warfare. ...
