Companies of Battle

I am super excited regarding the upcoming release of the Middle-Earth Battle Companies book! Of course I preordered a copy and will go and fetch it next saturday. What an awesome excuse to start new projects, get them painted fast and even play with them shortly after the project’s start. Another great thing is that most LotR-Players will immediately have enough painted miniatures to start a game or two. But of course I wanted something new for this setting aswell. My first pick were the Dwarves of the Iron Hills. Naturally other projects are lurking already right after them. ...

Raaaaaaaaa!

Here he comes! Hailing from the Black Mountain Blades, one of the most notorious Star Players! Welcome Grim Ironjaw! I’ve always wanted to paint up some Star Players for Blood Bowl. Especially all the Dwarves available. I picked Grim to be the first one. Of course the new Forge World sculpt is cool, but I prefer the old one. ...

Furry Formation

This time I painted four Skaven at once. The last three Linemen and the last remaining Blitzer were due. Now it’s only two Gutter Runners left until the Crookback Creepes are able to challenge the other Aleatores’ teams. ...

Need an Injection?

After supplying my Ogre team with a cheerleader I now added an Apothecary. As there never was an official model by Games Workshop and I had left some Gnoblar bits here I built my own version. Also he got some greenstuff gloves and a self-made syringe. ...

Sexy Chick

There was some gold left during a small campaign I recently played which had to be spent. Due to a lucky circumstance I was able to get an old pewter model of an Ogre Cheerleader. Her amazingly ugly appearance makes her a perfect choice for my big boys. ...

Characters of the XVIth Legion

The recently finished Sons of Horus Terminators gave me the motivation to work a bit more on the XVIth Legion. For the last missions of the Betrayal at Calth board game I am in need of yet another Legion Veteran Sergeant. So I sat down and came up with a miniature made from no less than 7 different GW / FW kits. While chosing a name for the new Sergeant (a tradition I kept from the very beginning of this project) I thought that it would be a good idea to look back on all the named characters I painted for the Sons of Horus so far. ...

Sons of Horus Cataphractii squad

While visiting the local GW some days ago I noticed a test match of the new Shadespire game. Suddenly it came to my mind (looking at the hex-fields on the board) that I really would like to go on with Flattevieh’s and my own little campaign playing the Betrayal at Calth or better said Betrayal at Isstvan III board game. For the next mission there were only two Terminators lacking paint which stood around here readily assembled for quite some time now. So I didn’t hesitate and painted both of them. Hopefully Flattervieh’s World Eater Terminators won’t take long for him to finish. ...

Sneaky Creepers

The Crookback Creepers now have 50% of their team painted thanks to the two new additions. I am well aware that these Gutter Runners lack a lot of colour in comparison to their team mates. Yet I think it is an appropriate choice to have specialists like them look a bit different. You can still see (at least I think so) which team they belong to. ...

The Augurium

Now that my latest Space Marine project was finished (for now), I thought of a new project to get myself busy again on some power armour. Why not try a new Kill Team? So I went for the Grey Knights this time as I have never painted them before. Actually I had a soft spot for the Knights from Titan ever since yet they always had a major flaw to me. Somehow their agenda to be the first among equals (Space Marines) made them less attractive to me. But now that they are overshadowed by their huge primaris brethren they (at least to me) seemed to be cured. My first try was Brother Atravon, a ...

Jensus Natorian

Here he comes – my last Deathwatch Space Marine for our planed Deathwatch: Overkill campaign. As you might remember we played some missions of the board game earlier this year and decided to play the whole campaign as the game was lots of fun. Every player involved (excluding Rekrom who takes care of the board and most of the cultists) has to bring four painted Space Marines (including Kill Team Excis for extra fun). With Jensus Natorian the Codicier Librarian finished I am eagerly awaiting the upcoming matches. I really hope to see a good performance of the Blood Raven Psyker. ...
