Sicaran Battle Tank

It was about time to get some more vehicles for my World Eaters. After the Rhino which was a joy to paint the first Sicaran was finished. I have to admit that I wasn’t a big fan of this particular model initially. But the paint job was such fun that I even started to work on a second one and a Venator is already getting build aswell. ...

Conquer the skies

Now that my Dwarven Regiment of Renown is waiting for its first match I am already looking forward to the next step. That’ll be a 500 points Dwarven Warhammer Army. We have a home-brewed heavily modified rule setting for the Aleatores on the oven for this but more about this issue another day. I couldn’t resist and had to start with the center piece of the small Dwarf army – a Gyrocopter. Funny though that something small like this is supposed to be the center piece of an army. But if you kept an eye on this blog for some time you’ve most likely already noticed that we’re pretty much into low point matches. So that ...

Khorgath – Praetor of the World Eaters

This is one of those miniatures which was lying around way too long, covering dust instead of paint. But now it was time for yet another Praetor, this time in a MK III Iron Armour and some extra weapon options. He has two different Paragon Blades, a Chain Axe, a Archaeotech Pistol or two Power Axes to choose from. ...

The tiny Throng

Today is the day and I am happy to announce that the small project I started back in July 2015 is now finished. The Old World’s most tiny Throng is ready now for its first adventures. Actually I am talking about my 100 points strong dwarven force for the Regiments of Renown Warhammer modification. The two new Quarrellers were the last Dwarves needed. It’s always cool to finish a project. But to be honest it is one among 100 others and I had my fair share of fun painting the dwarves so that I already bought enough stuff to get ready for the next step – 500 points. Actually I already painted the Thane ...

Even in Death, I serve… (as a Dreadnought)

Some more fire power has been added to my collection: a Contemptor Dreadnought with twin Kheres Assault Cannons. With this model I now have three out of five models available for my Word Bearers (only missing out on the “normal Boxnought” and the Deredeo class). For the new class introduced in Book VI there is no model yet, so I’d neglect it in my musings. In direkt comparison the Leviathan, the Mhara Gal and the regular Contemptor. I still remember when the Contemptor first came out everybody was amazed by the size of the model. Nowadays the Contemptor is by far the smallest “Heresy-Type” Dreadnought in the Legion Arsenal. ...

Exhortation of Butchery

After the Betrayal of Isstvan Ghalan Surlak’s duties towards his brethren changed. Once he was obliged to save their lives in combat but now he had to increase their berserk fury. With the help of the Butcher’s Nails they became slaughter themselves until victory or death. Surlak and his inner circle of Apothecaries learned a lot new techniques by no one else than Chief Apothecary Fabius of the Emperor’s Children. Initially I wanted to have another Apothecary for my troops. Therefore I converted the MK II miniature quite a bit by giving him a head sans helmet and replacing the bolt pistol with a helmet instead. His left arm got magnetised and the chain sword replaced ...

Drenn Redblade

I am pretty sure you’ve all seen the marvelous board tiles my club mate Rekrom came up with recently for the new Deathwatch Overkill game. I am more than hot to test them with my own Space Marine. That’ll be just like Warhammer Quest where each club member / player will field one Deatchwatch Marine and Rekrom will be the Genestealer Host. As I have a weak spot for Space Wolves in the 41st millennium I picked up Drenn Redblade as my choice immediately. Actually this is not really supposed to be the character Drenn Redblade. I prefer to call him Brandr Redblade as he is one of the Vlka Fenryka of Ragnar Blackmane’s ...

Banner of the Raven Clan

Dwarves usually are clansmen and to keep in contact with their brethren during battle each clan has an unique banner as a point of reference. The Dwarf shown here carries the banner of the Raven Clan which is led by Captain Floí. Dwarven armies usually lack three things in the LotR-game: Magic, cavalry and spears. With the introduction of the Hobbit the dwarves now are able to wield spears but since I have a Khazad-Dûm themed army and the spears seem to be Erebor only a main strategic element are banners. They can get a reroll if they lose combat and in combination with the shield block and their heavy armour even a small amount of Dwarves can ...

Radiating Beauty – Word Bearers Destroyers

Everybody needs a break sometimes and so did I. Having painted almost exclusively red for a few weeks now, I needed something else. But then again, I didn’t want to break the combo of my Word Bearers. So I painted some Destroyers for my Word Bearers collection. Nice models (that’s pretty obvious) and their dark reputation fits the use in a Word Bearers force. I imagine the Destroyers going in first and breaking resistance with their rad-weaponry closely followed by a second wave of the Ashen Circle burning everything down thats left over. What has been a bit tricky is the fact that Destroyer Marines normally are depicted in black, but I couldn’t find “proof” in the background that they are black indeed. ...
