Cheer up!

Cheer up! The dwarf women are here to entertain the crowd. This is in fact not the first dwarf woman which made it to the blog but the first dwarven cheerleader. The new season is continuing to be very succesful for the Barak Varr Bowlers. The last game against a Nurgle team was won 1:0 again without any casualties or serious injuries on dwarven side. Unfortunately I can’t show you pictures of the game as the miniatures were not fully painted / based. Anyway the Barak Varr Bowlers got plenty of new cash to spend for the Playoffs. This is definitely a good thing as it gives me motivation to paint new stuff. I picked up ...

Captain of Minas Tirith

My tiny Gondor project was still lacking a hero. I thought it would be a cool idea to have the leader of my patrol from Minas Tirith sitting on a horse. Unfortunately the only mounted models I like such as Boromir f.e. were all way to expansive for such a small project. Thus I had to come up with a little conversion. Carving my way through the metal of the miniature was a tough job though. ...

Rohan’s military review

After the rework this is the final result of my Éored from the Westfold. Next to my riders for the 150 HTL-matches there were standing some regular warriors of Rohan which got some fresh colour aswell. The troop so far consists of the following: -Erkenbrand on foot and on horse -Grimbold -Eowyn -2 Rohan Royal Guard -1 Rohan Royal Guard on horse -19 Warriors of Rohan -5 Riders of Rohan ...

Forth Eorlingas!

“Arise now, arise, Riders of Théoden! Dire deeds awake, dark it is eastward. Let horse be bridled, horn be sounded! Forth Eorlingas!” ― King Théoden The Redshields of Erkenbrand are ready for battle! The five riders of Rohan were among the first LotR miniatures I painted some years ago but now got some fresh paint. That’s what I got so far: Erkenbrand on horse 5 Riders of Rohan -5 Westfold Redshields upgrade -2 Throwing spears ...

Riders of Rohan! What news from the Mark?

Erkenbrand, second marshal of Rohan and lord of the Westfold. He and his Éored are also known as the red shields. After a to long hiatus there were finally some LotR miniatures back on my painting desk. With the HTL’s idea for very small 150 points matches one of my faves was back again. Of course it had to be some riders of the Rohirrim led by Erkenbrand. This seemed like a good idea because my former troops led by Grimbold had no cavalry yet.  I just checked what I had in stock regarding Rohirrim … great, I already had painted some of them years ago. But now over to my new paint job, Erkenbrand: ...

Reserve Bench

The Barak Varr Bowlers had their first match in my local Games Workshop’s Blood Bowl league. The pleasant surprise was that they won 1:0 during the second half against the Norsca Vikings (a Norse team – duh). I had a great time and would like to thank the other Coach Kartoffel for the thrilling and brilliant match. Although I have to admit that the Dwarves were real lucky that day regarding the dice rolls and the Norse were not. No ultra smart tactics from my side, haha. The new money the team got were immediately spend for another Lineman for the reserve bench. At an early stage of the last game I was on the field with only ...

Heldrax Goretouched

Here comes the first painted miniature of the Gorechosen box I got for Christmas recently. Heldrax Goretouched is a really cool miniature and it was a lot of fun to paint him. The horns around his neck really stand out and give him something special. ...

Let the games begin

The Proud Bumping Bellies’ last miniature for the time being is no other than Captain Tozug. Tozug is the smartest of the bunch to the extent of Ogres being smart at all. Yet he is the one keeping the survey of the wild tackling of his other team mates while bellowing short orders. Provided that the other Ogre players are not to stuipd to act as they were told every now and then they are able to perform a drive and finally a touchdown. It’s no rarity to see Tozug grabbing the ball carrying Snotling throwing him to the end zone. I wanted to create a throwing Quarterback miniature for Tozug. The conversion was the most complex so ...

The Head Coach

When I first read the new Head Coach rules on page 38 of “Blood Bowl Death Zone Season 1” there was no doubt that my Dwarf Team the Barak Varr Bowlers were in need of a new model. “If you have a suitable miniature representing your Head Coach, you can argue the call when one of your players is sent off for committing a foul or using a Secret Weapon.” So I grabbed an old dwarf miniature from the Warhammer range which was released around the same time as my Blood Bowl team dwarves (late 80ies, early 90ies). The former bowman got some new bits, some green stuff and voilà – Head Coach Ansgrim Flintbrow and ...
