Five Year Anniversary

Five years have passed since the first post went “Hello, World!”. Lots and lots of changes happened during that time. Not only for the hobby but for the people involved here on the blog aswell. During the last couple of months the participation faded and as this was supposed to be a group-project this might very well be the last post aired here. I am still active but not interested in running a blog alone for the moment. Just in case you’ve wondered why there are that little posts the last weeks. We’ll have to wait and ...

Rank & File

One new years solution among many others was to focus again on regular old school rank and file Warhammer. After playing several skirmish matches with my Dwarves during the last two years it is time to focus on the next step again. We developed next to our own skirmish stuff rules for small 500 points matches which I would really like to try as soon as possible. And I have to admit that after painting a standard-bearer for my main Dwarf unit and placing them together for a picture I got the first vibe of the good ol’ Warhammer look with the yet small unit. I am not 100% satisfied the freehand on the banner turned ...

And down, down to Goblin town

Finishing one Battle Company is of course reason enough to start at least 2 new ones, hehe. I had several plastic sprues with Goblin Town Goblins lying around here for years. Now along the blessing of the Battle Companies I might paint and play with some of them finally. When the box for the first movie was released, I even painted some of them to see if they might fit in with my Moria Goblins. But I was never that happy with a green skin colour and always wanted to try something more in the vein of the movies. ...

Azog’s Vanguard & first BC match

It was a pleasant experience to finish this new Vanguard Force from Gundabad for the Battle Companies expansion. Painting 6 models in a row is something I can still do without getting too much distraction in between. I am pretty curious to see how the elite from Mount Gundabad will perform in their first match. I think I will nominate the 3 Orcs wearing shields as the heroes. In the meantime Flattervieh and me had our first match with two Battle Companies made from our old stock of miniatures. It was Rohan fighting Moria in the scenario 6 (stand your ground). All I can say is that it was (not surprisingly) a whole lot of ...

Grombrindal

This is probably the most enduring and relevant character of the Warhammer World of all times? Yet I never painted one of the various incantations of the White Dwarf…until now! Fortunately my club mate Rekrom painted the Black Gobbo and we will soon try them out along our teams as Star Players. Grombrindal will of course fight erm play along my Barak Varr Bowlers Dwarf Team. ...

Sho gad adol!

Still working on my Gundabad / Azog’s Legion Battle Company. Almost done as there are only two Orcs left without paint. Maybe I can finally test the Battle Companies setting during the coming days. ...

Gundabad

Now that I finally got my hands on the very exciting Battle Companies expansion I have a problem (again). There are lots and lots of teams I would like to give a try. Well then…let’s start. After the first Dwarf of the Iron Hills I painted a test Orc from Mount Gundabad. We’ll have to wait and see which team (or maybe even another one?) will be finished first. ...

Welcome the Crookback Creepers!

Now that the last two Gutter Runners were painted I am finally there! The Skaven Blood Bowl Team – The Crookback Creepers – are ready to enter the field. Really looking forward to play them. I hope they don’t get mashed up to easily…I am used to the tough Dwarves and their fragile nature might come in as quite a shock. The next question would be “which team is next”? ...

Companies of Battle

I am super excited regarding the upcoming release of the Middle-Earth Battle Companies book! Of course I preordered a copy and will go and fetch it next saturday. What an awesome excuse to start new projects, get them painted fast and even play with them shortly after the project’s start. Another great thing is that most LotR-Players will immediately have enough painted miniatures to start a game or two. But of course I wanted something new for this setting aswell. My first pick were the Dwarves of the Iron Hills. Naturally other projects are lurking already right after them. ...

Raaaaaaaaa!

Here he comes! Hailing from the Black Mountain Blades, one of the most notorious Star Players! Welcome Grim Ironjaw! I’ve always wanted to paint up some Star Players for Blood Bowl. Especially all the Dwarves available. I picked Grim to be the first one. Of course the new Forge World sculpt is cool, but I prefer the old one. ...
