Ennox Sorrlock

As you might have noticed we had a really great time playing Deathwatch: Overkill lately. Actually we agreed on playing the whole campaign as soon as possible. Therefore all four Aleator-Players sorted four Deathwatch Marines out who we were going to play during the campaign (including Kill Team Excis of course). Of course I got this fella here and today’s Iron Hand Ennox Sorrlock. Be prepared for the other two members of the Deathwatch soon. Regarding the bases I tried to be as close to Rekrom’s marvelous tiles as possible. ...

Deathwatch: Overkill – Killstorm

Finally! After my clubmate Rekrom finished the last remaining tile for the first couple of missions we were able to sit down and give this game a try. No really, we waited with the first game until we had everything fixed for maximum tabletop goodness. I really have to praise Rekrom’s dedication towards this project. It was a blast playing on these marvelous tiles. Thanks mate, on the board they look even better than on the pictures. Also I would like to thank Kjeld for his help on the project. He painted some of the required cultists and came up with these cool vents you can see on the board. They have no relevance ...

Banner of Couronne

Soon my Bretonnian Skirmish Team will be ready for their first match. I recently finished four peasants, one of them is a Dog of War, a standard bearer. I decided that the team should hail from Couronne, thus showing the heraldry of the king on the banner. In 2035 I probably have painted an army huge enough to be led by the King himself, Louen Leoncoeur. ...

Chivalry

Lady, I am your servant and in this time of trial I once again offer you my blade and service. When the clarion call is sounded, I will ride out and fight in the name of liege and Lady. Whilst I draw breath the lands bequeathed unto me shall remain untainted by evil. Honour is all, chivalry is all. Such is my vow. the ritual vow of a Knight of the Realm Here he comes, the leader of my Bretonnian skirmish warband, Geoffroi le Valeureux. He’s an experienced Knight of the Realm, hailing from Couronne, his King’s dukedom. He gathered his men to protect his land in the service of the Lady of the Lake. ...

Four Year Anniversary

Another year has passed and it is now four years ago since the Aleatorblog opened its  gates with its first post. We’re basically still doing what we used to do back then yet we don’t get to see each other that often anymore. But most of us are still working like crazy behind our hobby desks to get these little plastic men ready for tabletop warfare. So we figured it could be fun to take a closer look at our starting point and the climax of our own brush history. What were the Aleatores’ first miniatures, what are their ...

Regarding Slayers

Regarding Dwarf Slayers Games Workshop has had a long tradition of coming up with several sculpts. I started out with the era of the Slayersculpts around the time of the 2nd Blood Bowl edition and their brethren in Warhammer accompanied us for quite a long time. Then there came only two new sculpts for Mordheim which had slightly downscaled facial features and smaller hands. Then there came only one plastic Slayer which was the first sculpt I didn’t like that much. And now as the Age of Sigmar and the Fyreslayers are upon us I doubt that we’ll get to see improved new plastic Slayers from GW. So what can a Dwarf do if he intends to include ...

Cheer up!

Cheer up! The dwarf women are here to entertain the crowd. This is in fact not the first dwarf woman which made it to the blog but the first dwarven cheerleader. The new season is continuing to be very succesful for the Barak Varr Bowlers. The last game against a Nurgle team was won 1:0 again without any casualties or serious injuries on dwarven side. Unfortunately I can’t show you pictures of the game as the miniatures were not fully painted / based. Anyway the Barak Varr Bowlers got plenty of new cash to spend for the Playoffs. This is definitely a good thing as it gives me motivation to paint new stuff. I picked up ...

Captain of Minas Tirith

My tiny Gondor project was still lacking a hero. I thought it would be a cool idea to have the leader of my patrol from Minas Tirith sitting on a horse. Unfortunately the only mounted models I like such as Boromir f.e. were all way to expansive for such a small project. Thus I had to come up with a little conversion. Carving my way through the metal of the miniature was a tough job though. ...

Reserve Bench

The Barak Varr Bowlers had their first match in my local Games Workshop’s Blood Bowl league. The pleasant surprise was that they won 1:0 during the second half against the Norsca Vikings (a Norse team – duh). I had a great time and would like to thank the other Coach Kartoffel for the thrilling and brilliant match. Although I have to admit that the Dwarves were real lucky that day regarding the dice rolls and the Norse were not. No ultra smart tactics from my side, haha. The new money the team got were immediately spend for another Lineman for the reserve bench. At an early stage of the last game I was on the field with only ...
