Hey you there!

After showing the Goblin Referee now the clam pack’s Halfling follows next. I can’t put my finger on it but I was really enthusiastic painting this miniature. Maybe that was due to the freehand stripes on his shirt? Now I have to hunt down the Dwarf Referee and the Human Referee on the net to complete the quartette. ...

Cheer up!

Cheer up! The dwarf women are here to entertain the crowd. This is in fact not the first dwarf woman which made it to the blog but the first dwarven cheerleader. The new season is continuing to be very succesful for the Barak Varr Bowlers. The last game against a Nurgle team was won 1:0 again without any casualties or serious injuries on dwarven side. Unfortunately I can’t show you pictures of the game as the miniatures were not fully painted / based. Anyway the Barak Varr Bowlers got plenty of new cash to spend for the Playoffs. This is definitely a good thing as it gives me motivation to paint new stuff. I picked up ...

Reserve Bench

The Barak Varr Bowlers had their first match in my local Games Workshop’s Blood Bowl league. The pleasant surprise was that they won 1:0 during the second half against the Norsca Vikings (a Norse team – duh). I had a great time and would like to thank the other Coach Kartoffel for the thrilling and brilliant match. Although I have to admit that the Dwarves were real lucky that day regarding the dice rolls and the Norse were not. No ultra smart tactics from my side, haha. The new money the team got were immediately spend for another Lineman for the reserve bench. At an early stage of the last game I was on the field with only ...

Let the games begin

The Proud Bumping Bellies’ last miniature for the time being is no other than Captain Tozug. Tozug is the smartest of the bunch to the extent of Ogres being smart at all. Yet he is the one keeping the survey of the wild tackling of his other team mates while bellowing short orders. Provided that the other Ogre players are not to stuipd to act as they were told every now and then they are able to perform a drive and finally a touchdown. It’s no rarity to see Tozug grabbing the ball carrying Snotling throwing him to the end zone. I wanted to create a throwing Quarterback miniature for Tozug. The conversion was the most complex so ...

The Head Coach

When I first read the new Head Coach rules on page 38 of “Blood Bowl Death Zone Season 1” there was no doubt that my Dwarf Team the Barak Varr Bowlers were in need of a new model. “If you have a suitable miniature representing your Head Coach, you can argue the call when one of your players is sent off for committing a foul or using a Secret Weapon.” So I grabbed an old dwarf miniature from the Warhammer range which was released around the same time as my Blood Bowl team dwarves (late 80ies, early 90ies). The former bowman got some new bits, some green stuff and voilà – Head Coach Ansgrim Flintbrow and ...

Make some noise for Golgosh

Playing Blood Bowl often means capturing the ball by pure force. Golgosh is very aware of this fact and uses his immense weight to tackle everything in his way to get through the enemy lines. When I converted Golgosh I made sure to give him a forward leaning posture to achieve a tackling look which could even root out a Treeman. ...

Run Baby run!

The second Ogre for my Blood Bowl team is Gormash. In case Gormash gets the ball he is a relentless steamroller. Unfortunately the end zone is not always where he stops therefore the fans standing behind it have to watch out not getting stomped. I wanted to give this Ogre the forward pose of a runingback. Thus I had redo his legs and arms. He also got a ball and a helmet. ...

Dragonback Titans

Now that the Barak Varr Bowlers are ready for kickoff I am (of course) already looking for a new Team to paint. I really like the sculpts of the new Orc team from the recently released Blood Bowl box. Yet I am not a huge fan of their facial design. But that’s not a problem at all, both the regular Warhammer range and the 40.000 range offer lots of great choices here. Picking a name wasn’t that hard aswell. I found this cool map of the Badlands and decided that my Orcs should hail from the Dragonback Mountains. Then again Orcs are probably not a wise choice as they tend to have pretty similar ...
