Mind-boggling

A new Aleator Kill Team event will be soon upon us. Somehow I couldn’t focus on the Adeptus Mechanicus as planned. I needed something fresh and new to work on. Thus I came up with an idea really offbeat. I think I never had something as weird like this in mind before. Maybe you can already guess what I have planned? This single miniature could probably be hint enough for some of our readers to make an educated guess. ...

Superior Firepower

This match was something special for me. A very good and old friend of mine (no Aleator club member) finally managed to finish the last strokes of the brush on his Tau Empire Kill Team. If memory serves me right the start of this task dates back almost six years. I was very excited when he told me that he was about to finish them soon and that we could finally set up a match which we talked about since ages. And I have to say that I was surprised in quite a positive way. These are the very first miniatures he ever painted and he even magnetised the weapon options for the Crisis suits. Very well done ...

Two Year Anniversary

Really, two years passed since the first post went online. Almost two hundred, english butchering posts later we are here today and still going strong. Cheers and salutes towards our visitors from all over the world. We are especially grateful for the comments some of you left here over the last two years. You know who you are! I took the opportunity and looked back on the Aleator gaming club during the last couple of years. In fact you can hardly call us a gaming club by regular standards. We are just a bunch of hobby crazed individuals gathered under one banner. Of course we were around before the blog ...

Bitter Pride

Who doesn’t remember the spectacular duel(s) between Loken and Lucius in the Horus Heresy novels? Or maybe the partner duels of Argel Tal and Kharn against two Champions of other Legions? It should be pretty obvious that the Space Marines are eager to prove themselves in front of their brethren. That’s what happens when you have a bunch of these guys who are full of themselves meeting up I guess. That was the start of an idea Flattervieh and me had, when we thought how we could get the Terminators and named characters of our traitor Legions on the table as soon as possible. Imagine Abaddon (who was never known to be a calm and non provoking character) ...

Kill Team Tournament I / 2014

Last Sunday it was that time of the year again: Kill Team Tournament. This time using the new rules by GW including different missions and the new system for specialists. We played all missions from the Kill Team rules except for the mission “Head Hunt” because not everybody did allocate specialist rules. I played once again the White Scars, consisting of a Scout team with Bolters and a Heavy Bolter as well as a Bike Squad led by a Sergeant wielding a power sword. Both specialists carried a plasma gun each. One having FNP and the other “Ingnore Cover” as special rule. We decided, that the leaders should have one roll for the Warlord Traits counting for the whole day. I did roll ...

Astra Militarum Kill Team

The recently released Codex of the Astra Militarum forced me to get back on my very first 40K army, the Imperial Guard of Argos. Now that the club’s Kill Team event is upon us soon I had to get a very tiny hammer of the Emperor together. Even if it’s quite an obvious choice I never went for a Veteran Squad for a Kill Team. I just had to paint two new models and was already done:   ***************  1 Troop  *************** Veterans Shotguns Heavy Flamer Autocannon 2x Melter Sergeant Harker ************  1 Fast Attack  ************* Armoured Sentinel Squadron Autocannon ...

One Year Anniversary

The 15th of March marks the day of the Aleator Blog’s Birthday! One year ago we started the blog with this post. Today we would like to celebrate and take a closer look on the working benches of the Club members. I think it is really interesting to have a look at the W.I.P. projects of the other members who don’t post here on the blog regularly. You can not expect everybody who is part of the hobby to be a blogger aswell, even if that would be fantastic for sure. Also I would like to say hello to our regular daily visitors on the blog. Most of you folks are ...

New Kill Team Rules

Around Christmas last year GW released new and updated rules for 200 points Kill Team matches for Warhammer 40K. You can purchase and download them here. And while you’re at it feel free to check these free rules here made by fans out aswell! They are a bit different compared to GW’s but definitely worth to check out! Today’s Battel Report is about the official rules though. Make sure you have at least 3 Objective Markers for your team, as Mission 6 of the new rules requires a total of 6 of them. Therefore it’s a good idea if everybody attending a Kill Team match has 3 of them. ...

Horus Heresy Kill Team Event (Pt. 2)

The last battle we fought in our first Heresy Era gaming event was so epic, it deserves its own post. Four Thallaxi and 5 Terminators facing off 14 Sons of Horus and 10 angry World Eaters. A very fun match with a lot of surprises and of course awesome Speeehs Marines! Thanks to Flattervieh, Goatmörser and Elrond for the great last game. Conclusion: I wouldn’t have thought that my Cataphractii Terminators would endure that much bolter fire and melee attacks. So it was a pleasant surprise that my venerable armours were obviously blessed by the machine god. All together the terminator armour saved about 35, maybe 40 ...

Horus Heresy Kill Team Event (Pt.1)

We had our first Kill Team Event in the Horus Heresy setting. The event was planned before we knew there would be new kill team rules, so nowadays my Terminator kill team would not be legal, of course. So this was a first and a last time for my Cataphractii in a Kill Team Event. But let’s have a look at the four different teams first: The Kill Teams Elrond started with a Thallaxi Kill Team from the Legio Cybernetica Army List. High toughness and with the special rule “Ferrox” which gives them the rending special rule in close combat. Goatmörser started with his beloved Sons of Horus. His team was with 14 members by far the ...
