Heralds of Fenris

The Heralds of Fenris, or the Wolves of Ruin. Anyway, this post is about my Space Wolves Kill team for our first Heralds of Ruin test match. We have a long tradition of playing Kill Team tournaments in our gaming club and this time we would like to test these new rules. All I can say so far is that they look very promising. The individual team lists alone are nothing but great! The Vlka Fenryka team which I had in mind consists of seven furious Blood Claws which need to be guided by three older Wolves of the Fang. It’s very cool that you are able to have much more variety in your team than ...

Before the Watch

You might remember my take on Drenn Redblade some weeks ago for our planed Deathwatch Overkill event. As I’ve said back then I planed to convert my own version – Brandr Redblade – and show him in his younger days when his duty in the Watch was still to come. And that’s what I did recently. I am in need for more Blood Claws for a planed Heralds of Ruin Kill Team match. Therefore Brandr I painted him in his freshman days before he showed a remarkable talent for the Xenoshunt and as a part of my Blood Claw pack. I used the opportunity to give all of the old Blood Claws and the Wolf Priest ...

Daal Benoth – Praetor of the Word Bearers Legion

Daal Benoth served as a close advisor to Erebus and was one of the very first Word Bearers to learn about the secrets of Chaos. Over the decades of secret worshipping Daal Benoth fully embraced the gifts given to him by the dark gods. And here he is: another character for my Word Bearers Force: the obligatory Paragon Blade Praetor. Wielding a deamonic blade and wearing ornate chaotic Artificer Armour, His pistol is a Heresy style bolt pistol which I replaced in a great effort of conversion work.   ...

Adeptus Administratum

Here we go again featuring another member of the great Colony 87 Kickstarter range. This time it is the “Advisor”, almost my favourite of the whole range. That’s how I’ve always pictured a high-ranking member of the Adeptus Administratum. Therefore I tuned his staff with two Forge World Aquilae. Not sure how I’ll use him on the battlefield yet. A special Kill Team mission would be appropriate I think. ...

Eldar Warp Spider (alternative model)

Today I have something really exciting to show: alternative models for Eldar Warp Spiders by Ghost Miniatures from Russia. Frankly, I have been dreaming about a remake of this aspect shrine not only for years, but decades. Literally the old models by GW were some of the first Warhammer 40k I ever got, back in second edition. Somewhere (I actually don’t really recall where) I stumbled upon some painted Warp Spiders that looked amazing. First thing I thought was of course: Wow, thats a nice scratch build! Then I googled a bit and found the manufacturer Ghost Miniature, about whom I cannot really tell anything, since the whole website is in Russian. But like always: the ...

Astral Telepathy

Colony 87 is back with a bang! The Kickstarter campaign went into the second round and this time I was able to get a full pledge featuring all miniatures released so far. Today I would like to present the “Priestess” here. Well in my opinion this one here makes a pretty neat Astropath on the gaming table. I only painted “Lord Greiss” and her so far but I will certainly find proper use and paint for the rest of them aswell. While painting her I got somehow reminded of an artwork from the 40.000 RPG showing two Voidborns. ...

Drenn Redblade

I am pretty sure you’ve all seen the marvelous board tiles my club mate Rekrom came up with recently for the new Deathwatch Overkill game. I am more than hot to test them with my own Space Marine. That’ll be just like Warhammer Quest where each club member / player will field one Deatchwatch Marine and Rekrom will be the Genestealer Host. As I have a weak spot for Space Wolves in the 41st millennium I picked up Drenn Redblade as my choice immediately. Actually this is not really supposed to be the character Drenn Redblade. I prefer to call him Brandr Redblade as he is one of the Vlka Fenryka of Ragnar Blackmane’s ...

In the depths of Argos (new gaming board)

Since the release of “Deathwatch Overkill” I am working again on my Genestealer Cult. Because I really like this setting I am planing to build an own board with a mining theme just like in the board game for 40K. It will be a black board where I can place the self-made terrain pieces. You won’t be able to move on the black part as this will be supposed to be like a chasm. The first terrain pieces will be remakes of the card board pieces in the Deathwatch box. I am planing to use them later on for regular 40K, Deathwatch and Necromunda. To create these terrain pieces I came up with some scratchbuilds and 3D-prints which ...
