The Gilded Blade’s Diary I
After the Family’s arrival Johan and his sons were sitting down in a dirty tavern in the even more dirty settlement of Black Pit. All preparations were made and the Gilded Blade was more than ready to explore the nearby city of the damned. Tales of roaming terrors in the streets as well as the starring bloodshot eyes of potential rivals in the tavern could not becloud Johan’s pleasant anticipation. Tomorrow would be the day. Hours before he spent almost his last coins to hire a mercenary who said that he already knew the streets of Mordheim. Johan had seen enough Assassins during his days to recognise this man, Francesco di Cosimo as a ruthless killer. Now Johan only had to watch out for his man getting not too drunk or into some trouble.
The next morning came and the Gilded Blade finally entered the mist clouded city through a shattered part of its once impressive wall. Eventually they found a place which seemed to a promising place to search for the highly sought after wyrdstone. The men had just started the search as Wouter rose his head forcing the other men to be quiet. He had heard something. A rat like squeak was to be heard and the sound of fast footsteps on the ground. The men of Marienburg had heard the tales about the evil rat men of the Old World. Yet they had never faced a Skaven before. Johan did not waste any more time and ordered a quick rush towards the streets. He did not want to be closed in on his first day in Mordheim.
The scenario was “4: breakthrough” and due to their lower warband’s rating the Skaven decided to let the Marienburgers be the attackers.
The Battle’s results:
- Marksmen: +1 BS
- Swordsmen: +1 I & +1 WS
- Found 4 shards, sold 3 for 60 Gold Coins
- Found an Overturned Cart and 9 Gold Coins
- Paid upkeep for the Assassin
- Hired 2 new Warriors with Clubs
(Note: We made a little mistake during the beginning of the campaign, giving all henchmen experience for slain enemies.)
Johan was sitting again in the tavern surrounded by his sons. Things went very good for the Gilded Blade so far. At first the men were frightened by the fierce rat men but when they saw that they were no match for their blades they cut them down like hay. Collecting enough riches for a fast return to Marienburg seemed like no problem if things stayed the way they are. Johan even thought about hiring new men here in the dirty settlements surrounding Mordheim.
