Saruman’s eyes & ears
In for a penny, in for a pound. It definately is a good idea to have a good aswell as an evil army for the Lord of the Rings. Especially as Goatmoerser and me would like to visit a tournament one day where it usually is a good practice to bring two fractions with.
My Dwaves have almost reached an appropriate size for standard games. I’m going to add a couple of miniatures (Gimli, Daín Ironfoot and some Iron Guards) to be able to try different army builds.
Therefore the time was just about right to waste some thoughts on an evil army. Isengard has always been tempting for me. Especially the battle at Amon-Hen just like the attack of the Warg Riders was quite impressive. Now that my Dwarves are pretty slow the evil army should bring some speed with them. Warg Riders should be part of the new project log, that’s for sure. Surprisingly Goatmoerser gave me some leftovers for free and five of six miniatues will be included.
The idea to start a new LotR project the size of a Kill Team is just brilliant. I was just in need of another couple of miniatures for the first 200 points. Amon-Hen means to include Lurtz, also Uruk-Hai scouts and of course I had to get my hands on the “The Fallen Realms” book. It came to my attention, that Mauhúr gives the option to upgrade some of the Uruks to Marauders which are 2″ faster then. Thus I had to get him aswell.
Due to the step-by-step army build project of our Aleator club I started with 100 points. Eleven Uruk-Hai scouts with shields and bows were the start. Eight plastic Uruks are painted as of now and three metal Uruks will follow soon.
Of course the second step for 200 points is already planed! Mauhúr and the nowadays hard to get standard bearer will both be a part of it.
