The Fellowship of the Ring

BALIN FUNDINUL UZBAD KHAZADDUMU Or as we might put it these days: “Balin, son of Fundin, Lord of Moria”. That’s what the Fellowship of the Ring found written on his tomb when they entered the Chamber of Mazarbul, also known as the Chamber of Records. And while I do agree with Gimli that this is quite a mournful tragedy, no one bats an eye for poor Ori who was a great character of Thorin’s company aswell. Contrary to Balin he wasn’t even entombed. Well as dramatic as the setting of this chapter of the Lord of the Rings is, today’s post is a celebration for me. It all started in April 2016 with Frodo ...

Gimli

“Bring your pretty face to my axe.” Gimli – The Two Towers After scrum painted Gimli some months before it was my turn now. I am almost finished with this long-lasting project. Gimli being the last one of the Fellowship and only the display base is missing. ...

Legolas

“A red sun rises, blood has been spilled this night.” Legolas – The Two Towers I have a good run painting the Fellowship right now. Legolas was the second to last miniature I had to paint. Now it’s only Gimli who is left and of course the scenery base. I think I can count the amount of Elves/Eldar I have painted on one hand over the years. I’m more the dwarf-player to be honest. Yet I quite enjoyed painting Legolas Greenleaf and it didn’t differ too much from my usual painting routine. The most remarkable difference was that I had to give him a lighter skin tone. ...

Boromir

You carry the fate of us all, little one. If this is indeed the will of the Council, then Gondor will see it done. Boromir – The Fellowship of the Ring Back in April 2016 I started painting the Fellowship of the Ring. I continued doing so including several brakes. The last step was Aragorn at the beginning of this year where I said that I try to finish this project in 2017. Still possible yet regarding the long brakes I usually take during each miniature it can be still considered as a challenge. Next one will be Legolas as I continue painting them in their order of appearance during the ...

Gandalf the Grey

Another most famous member of the Fellowship of the Ring has entered the stage. Gandalf the Grey is among us to help the Hobbits facing the huge amount of Goblins here at my place. While painting him I mixed in a bit blue to his robe which turned out quite nice (at least I think so). ...

Frodo Baggins & Samwise Gamgee

Finally I started with one of the oh so many projects I’ve had in mind since ages. I guess every LotR fan wouldn’t mind having a painted Fellowship of the Ring on his shelf. Also I got this scenic diorama of Balin’s tomb lying around which begs for paint, too. Will do my best to get these nine fellas ready for the table as I plan to use them for demo-matches with the mines of Moria set. Maybe I can infect some more people with the LotR-virus this way. ...
